Project Type: Removal of a restriction on Title and buildings and works to enable the conversion of the rear building into a dwelling.
Council: Monash City Council
Designer: Accent Plans

Keen Planning originally obtained planning permission for the owners of the site to convert the historic stables to the rear of the property affected by a Heritage Overlay, into bed and breakfast accommodation.

Following moderate levels of success operating the bed and breakfast, Keen Planning was engaged by the same owners to assist with changing the use of the rear building to a dwelling and subdivision of the accommodation from the existing dwelling at the front of the site, which would enable each lot to be sold separately.

The application involved demonstrating that the changes to the site required for the accommodation to exist as a separate dwelling (including additional crossover and carport), were sensitive to the Heritage value of the site and consistent with the Neighbourhood Character of the surrounding area.

Keen Planning secured support for the application at Council and a Planning Permit was issued that has since allowed the successful subdivision of the site into two separate lots.
